Jammu and Kashmir: Mehbooba Mufti questions normalization claims as new security bunkers are built
Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed skepticism about the Centre's assertions regarding the normalization of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. She pointed to the construction of permanent security bunkers as evidence contrary to the claimed improvement.
"What do I say? If the situation has truly improved, it should be evident on the ground. We wouldn't see so many new concrete structures being erected for the security forces. Previously, they were housed in tents. Now, concrete structures are being built for them," Mehbooba told reporters in Pulwama district.
The former chief minister of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state further noted that while the BJP-ruled Centre claims normality in Kashmir, people are facing harassment through agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
