National: NIA charges 68 Muslim activists for ‘conspiracy to establish Islamic rule by 2047’
The NIA has charged 68 former leaders of the Popular Front of India in two separate cases in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The chargesheets, which bring the total number of chargesheets filed against PFI members by the NIA this month to four, allege that the Muslim activists were involved in raising funds for carrying out terror activities and conspiring to establish Islamic rule in India by 2047.
The first chargesheet was filed in Jaipur on March 13, followed by the second chargesheet filed in Hyderabad on March 16, according to the Hindustan Times.
Now-banned Muslim group PFI was most active in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The accused in the two chargesheets filed Friday have been charged under various sections of IPC, the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and the Arms Act, 1959. Souces:
