Kerala: Police wrongly detain Muslim youths after Christian man commits blast

Several Hindutva social media accounts, including those of Union ministers and propaganda websites, are accused of spreading misinformation and fostering Islamophobia following a blast at a Jehovah’s Witnesses prayer gathering in Kochi, Kerala, where three people were killed.

Despite an individual named Dominic Martin confessing to the attack, some politicians falsely linked it to the Israel-Palestine issue. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar for his social media posts, accusing him of communal and anti-Muslim sentiments. A 21-member special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case, and Dominic Martin, the suspect, posted a video explaining his actions, citing grievances with the Jehovah’s Witnesses' ideology.
