Muslim Families in Kukshi, Madhya Pradesh, Issued Notices for Demolition by Dhar Administration
The Dhar administration in Kukshi, Madhya Pradesh, issued notices to seven Muslim families on October 01, instructing them to provide “documents related to their properties” and “permission for construction” within 24 hours. The notices, dated September 29, were affixed to the houses on October 1. They came with a warning that failing to provide property documents would lead to the demolition of the houses, categorizing them as illegal constructions according to the Dhar administration. The incident followed the violence during Ganapati Visarjan processions on September 27, where shops owned by Muslims were set on fire, looted, and vehicles were torched by Hindutva groups. In the aftermath of the violence, BJP leaders exerted pressure on the administration to demolish the homes of Muslims, claiming that they had thrown stones at the processions.
