Shahrukh Pathan, a Muslim resident of northeast Delhi, has been granted bail after 42 months by the Karkardoona Sessions Court in connection with a case related to the northeast Delhi violence. The charges against Pathan include rioting, causing injuries to police personnel, and allegedly being part of an armed mob responsible for a gunshot injury sustained by Rohit Shukla during the anti-Muslim violence in north-east Delhi (FIR 49/2020 registered at Jafrabad Police Station). Pathan remains in custody as he still faces charges in another case related to rioting despite the bail. Pathan has been in judicial custody since April 3, 2020, and was also accused in FIR 51/2020 of pointing a gun towards the city police and a Hindutva mob attacking Muslims during the pogrom, with images of the incident circulating widely on social media.
