Madhya Pradesh: Anti-Muslim Violence Erupts During Ganapati Visarjan in Kukshi, Dhar
On 27th September, during Ganapati Visarjan processions in Kukshi town of Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh, shops belonging to Muslims and vehicles were set on fire and looted by Hindutva groups. Allegedly three Hindu groups- Shirvi Samaj, Patidar Samaj, and Bhausar Saman- belonging to three different localities had carried out separate ganapati processions which later halted at one common junction, Patel Chowk via Bus stand.
The matter took a communal turn when Hindu groups allegedly played provocative songs and raised communal slogans late at night in front of a mosque leading to increased friction.
9 shops in total were attacked, out of which 4 were set on fire and 5 were looted. The affected establishments included both mobile and cloth shops, all owned by Muslims.
