Uttar Pradesh: Government imposes a ban on halal-certified food products

On November 18, the Uttar Pradesh government imposed a ban on halal-certified food products throughout the entire state. An order issued by UP Food, Safety, and Drug Administration Commissioner Anita Singh stated, "The manufacturing, storage, distribution, and sale of halal-certified food products are banned with immediate effect."

Additionally, a separate order from the UP government stated that legal action will be taken against drugs, medical devices, and cosmetic products with halal-certified labels.
