The University Grants Commission had issued a circular dated November 21, requesting universities and colleges in Maharashtra to promote student participation in programs commemorating the birth centenary of Dattaji Didolkar. Didolkar, a late founder member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of the Hindutva militant group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, is regarded as an "inspiration" to students across India.
